Trivium

Metaltown - 2009

As Trivium was the third band we saw at Metaltown, the long line of people outside was all but empty now, and the pressure of people before the stage was unreal!
This meant I could make it no further towards the stage than the sound tower some 60 metres away; and this, together with the fact that I have never really connected with Trivium’s music, resulted in me having a very hard time concentrating about the show unfolding before me.

The band themselves seemed to have a great time on stage however, and the masses assembled before them had the time of their life.
Matt Heafy tried to gain some points with the audience as he had learned a few well-chosen words in Swedish; ”Tack så mycket!” and “Göteborg!”, and the response was made apparent in (among others) A Gunshot To The Head Of Trepidation where people jumped so much it literally made the ground below my feet move!
A loud shout-along was also started up together with Corey Beaulieu, as he repeatedly sang the word “Die” in, well, whatever song it is he sings that in.

Trivium is certainly a band best enjoyed live; but even though they seemed to be somewhat of an audience favourite here at Metaltown, I still have not had that one defining moment with them which will lift the experience above mediocre...
