"It's a privilege to finally be back in this metal fucking country!"
- Matt Heafy (vocals/guitar)
Thus spoke Matt Heafy, after which he quickly followed up with a "Tusind tak" in perfect Danish.
Trivium's show had an intro somewhat reminiscent of church music, and as soon as it was done all the members of Trivium poured out on stage, full of energy and ready to give us a blast of their thrashy metal.
The show part of the evening really started to come into form here; the band was very good at using the entire stage, and the one in charge of lights really brought out the big guns as there more colours, movement and even strobe lights coming in at times.
The crowd, even though it had grown considerably, was still a bit tentative though. The first couple of rows were active enough, but as I looked further back things tended to slow down a bit and people were mostly standing around listening. Not necessarily a bad sign of course, but I would have expected a bit more action, like what I saw for Amon Amarth earlier. I even believe there was more action to be found last time they visited us earlier in this same year together with Machine Head among others.
The evening also held a special occasion as it was guitarist / vocalist Corey Beaulieu's birthday which was celebrated with a thrashy version of the good old Happy Birthday song and finished off with some cake and Jägermeister.
A good solid show, but I am still not caught by their music.
