Behemoth
Sweden Rock Festival - 2010

Friday at Sweden Rock ended on a seriously evil note; in the darkest hours of the summer night we were watching Behemoth from Poland blasting away from the Dio Stage.
Now, here is a band which has truly understood the meaning of integrating the visual side with the music to create a larger whole in the live experience.
Every little detail, from clothing to make-up, from backdrop to mike-stand was thought through and given a unique and personal look which served to enhance the show in a big way.
Not only musically and visually on the forefront, Adam Darski (a.k.a. Nergal) proved to be quite the speaker as well, or as he himself put it;
“I like Sweden, because here I am actually allowed to speak my mind.”
Despite it being in the middle of the night, and despite the fact that they were playing at the same time as Gary Moore, Behemoth had attracted quite an impressive audience, and when shouts were made I saw a massive amount of arms raised as far back as the sound-tower, and possibly beyond.
Headbanging was also a frequent vision to behold, as the band punished us with a relentless hammering of our senses.
Even though their music is quite a lot more extreme than what I usually listen to, I did enjoy the concert quite a lot, especially since the band showed such professionalism and dedication to making this into a versatile and energetic show, something which they were a hundred percent successful in.
