Billy Idol
Sweden Rock Festival - 2010

The rebel yell was let loose over Sweden Rock Festival!
Billy Idol was one of those acts which I haven’t really listened to, but felt I wanted, needed, to see anyway now that I had the chance.
The rocker with the famous white hair fired his show up with Ready Steady Go, a fitting track from his Generation X days, and I do believe almost all of Sweden Rock was there to witness it. I clearly remember thinking I wouldn’t want to be in the band playing at the same time as him at least because they can’t have pulled much of a crowd (Sweden’s own Mustasch had this honour)…
Another classic, which I recognized without even knowing why, was Dancing With Myself and I’m sure to the well-informed listener there were many, many more.
Actually, I was quite impressed with the liveliness and pure attitude displayed on stage, but when the weather suddenly took a turn for the worse (actually he got the heaviest rain throughout the entire festival!), and Idol started a long rant about him wanting to smoke some weed, my interest in the concert faltered and I decided to go and watch it from afar, under the sheltering tent canvas of the large bar in the middle of the festival area.
I wasn’t the only one seeking shelter in here, and together we could watch White Wedding unfold in the distance, with an acoustic intro. After a while I felt I had had the enough of the crowded space however, and must admit that I left the show before it had even finished.
