Pain

The first thing to hit me about this Pain show was the venue. Logo is, although nice and cosy, a very small place, and can probably not hold more than a couple of hundreds of visitors. I would have thought that Peter Tägtgren would play in a much larger place, like Markthalle. But obviously not, and I don't even think that it was sold out. The fact that it was Thursday might have had something to do with it, but then again, this is Germany after all! Enough said, on to the show.

To start with, I have to say that I like the intro very much. It's a low, dark noise laying in the background from which different themes of Pain songs emerges from time to time. Simple, and yet effective.
The band itself seemed to be in a very good mood, and started the set with several fast songs, which gave and a lot of energy to the crowd. Sadly, the sound wasn't the best, and all the electronic sounds, which are a big part of the music, got lost due to bad mixing. They got this fixed by Injected Paradise, and then it stayed ok for the rest of the show. A note to this is that the sound was very varied depending on where in the room you were standing. I was over at the mixing table at one point, and from there I could almost only hear vocals and drums...

A possible downside to the show was the lack of contact with the audience, although I suppose this is easily overlooked, seeing how the lack of talking makes more space for music. And that is, after all, why we were there.
New, as far as I know, to the band was the bass-player, but he was well rehearsed and there was absolutely nothing bad to be said about his performance.
Stricken from tonight's set was Stay Away and Bye/Die, and for some unknown reason Greed was moved from its place and put in at the end of the show.
All in all, a good show. Not the best I've ever seen with them, but definitely not a bad one. Great lightshow, for once.
