Volbeat

After a long break, and a long steel-guitar intro Volbeat finally took the stage and kicked of with The Human Instrument. The place was completely packed by now, and the crowd went wild.
This is not a criticism of Megadeth, but I do believe that there were several people at the show tonight primarily, or maybe even solely for the sake of Volbeat. They have become rather popular as of late, after all...
A problem which annoyed me a bit throughout the show, but mostly so in the beginning, was, as often, a very poor sound. The drums were mixed far too high, and drowned out most of the rest. As I said, the problem was worst in the first couple of songs, but it never got properly fixed, which was a bit of a downer.
Compensating for this, consciously or not, the band made a good effort to put on a splendid show. Here I especially take my hat off for the lead singer, Michael Poulsen, who was in great touch with the audience. In fact, it was his singing from the photopit, crowd surfing, and general good spirit which really lifted this show. He even showed us that he still possess some of the power from his days with Dominus, growling his way into I Only Wanna Be With You. Strangely though, the rest of the band just seemed to be going through the moves, more or less... This was by no means a bad show, it was in fact quite good, but neither was it the best Volbeat show I have witnessed so far.
Volbeat also presented two new songs from their upcoming album, which both sounded pretty good. Not really anything new in style, but quite catchy and with a good feeling. The first one was called something like; Maybeline Of The Hollow, not completely sure I heard it correctly though. I didn't quite catch the name of the second one (Thomas maybe?), but instantly fell in love with one of the first lines in the lyrics. It went something like; Counting all the assholes in the room, and I'm definitely not alone...
