For the old school fans going to Copenhell this year, Exodus was one of the largest pulls, and they had unsurprisingly gathered a whole lot of people at the Pandæmonium stage for their early evening gig in the sun.

Now, we’ve seen Exodus a couple of times before, last time at this very festival actually, and it seems the members of the band change a bit every time we do. This time around, Rob Dukes was back behind the mic and Gary Holt was back on guitar, reverting the band back to the same members that we saw at The Rock back in 2010. I wasn’t too impressed by them at the time, but from the start, it seemed things were going to be different this time…

We were already in a good mood from the band using Queen’s We Will Rock You as their intro track, and the fun continued on as the band took the stage and threw us all in at the old school deep end with no other song than Bonded By Blood. The thrash party was a fact with headbanging fans and musicians who were walking, rushing, headbanging and in general giving a vivid performance.
The songs were delivered with conviction as well as a smile and Dukes wasn’t resting on his laurels when it came to engaging the hungry fans - it was impossible not to be infected by the good mood Exodus was delivering.

The crowd was responding to the onslaught, with aforementioned headbanging, as well as wave after wave of crowdsurfers, and when I looked around during Fabulous Disaster, the size of the circle pit was astounding!
Sadly, scheduling was working against us once more, and we had to leave early from this powerhouse of a performance, but I feel confident in saying that things didn’t let up through the whole show - I know for sure they hadn’t as I turned around gave a final glance while walking away. Exodus was performing better than I’d ever seen them before, and I was sad to go.
