Dia Psalma

KB, Malmö - 2008

I went into a complete Dia Psalma frenzy when I heard that club Night Beat was staging a concert with said band at KB in Malmoe. I've always liked Dia Psalma, but have only really started attending concerts after their split back in 1996 (the one has nothing to do with the other); so the only fond memories I have were from seeing them once as a young kid on their Efter Allt tour back in the day (I also saw them after the reunion on the Djupa Skogen tour).
Also, KB was a great place to see them; it's small enough to let you get close to the band and get an intimate feel for the show, still it's not too small to host the amount of action seen with the faster songs. Plus, they are usually well-lit and also have a pretty good sound.

Since Dia Psalma was the only band playing, there was no question as to whom the well-filled hall was there to see. Even if there had been doubts, the loud chants of the band's name before they went on would quickly have silenced them.
And on they came, filled with energy and with minds set to blow our, well, minds. It had been 13 years since last they played Malmoe, and we had all grown a lot cuter in the meantime, Ztikkan himself told us so.
They started off with a classic from their debut album Gryningstid, Kalla Sinnen, and from there on out it was just one great song after the other. I suppose that as long as they don't play a set which contains all of their material from start to finish, there will always be songs I feel are left out; but apart from that I think they had put a good and varied set together with material from all albums, although concentrated on the older stuff.

This whole amazing show was eaten raw by the audience, and it certainly gives a good feeling all the way inside to be at a show where everyone knows all the words to all the lyrics and sings along to them. Except maybe Det Döende Barnet, it halted a bit on that one. Still, it's a great song and I'm sure if they keep playing it, the words will come to us eventually.
Also, I was fortunate enough to see the setlist, and it therefore gave me great pleasure to hear that they chose to play an extra song for us which wasn't originally in the set.
After the first encore, the one which is always planned beforehand, we were obviously loud enough to compel the band to come on for a second encore as well, where they played the live-favourite Balladen Om Lilla Elsa. Like last time, Ulke could take a well deserved rest as the audience was responsible for all the singing, where the band only helped out as backing vocals during the chorus; and, giving ourselves a big pat on the back, we blew the roof off of KB.

Last time my verdict was "Quite simply, amazing".
This time I can only say, it just keeps getting better and better!
