After a splendid show from Saxon I wasn’t sure how DevilDriver, which I didn’t know at the time, would be able to follow it up.
This proved not to be a problem however, as the guys blasted out on the stage with the energy turned to the max! And I should add that it just grew throughout the three songs they had time for.
I’m hard-pressed to say which of the two shows was the better, but at least I can say that they were both top professional, and delivered world-class entertainment.

As soon as DevilDriver got on I immediately recognized the singer as Dez Fafara (a.k.a. Bradley James Fafara) from Coal Chamber, although not many similarities were found between the two bands as I would have to say that DevilDriver’s music felt more straight forward and harder than that of his ex-band.

As also they had only 15 minutes to play in people quickly started moshing, and for Clouds Over California a great circle pit was formed in the middle of the floor.
Alas, the show was quickly over, and after some guitar-plectres and drumsticks had been thrown to the audience the band took their leave, and I was left in the aftermath of another surprisingly good show this evening.
(note: Fafara came back moments later to hand over the Best New Band award to his fellow Californians in Five Finger Death Punch)
