Amon Amarth

This is definitely the highlight of the evening for me.
The lights go up to the sound of their classic Viking horn intro, then our ears are brutally beaten with the pure force of Valhall Awaits Me. This is going to be so good!

A note of surprise; this is the first time I've ever seen the whole band with shirts on, I think... Anyway, moving on.

For some strange reason my notes tell me that my first impression of the show is that this is good, but not the best I've ever seen them perform. Luckily I come to my senses a short time later, writing; Correction - Supercool! And it truly is quite amazing. The audience, which at this point has filled the hall, roars their response to the music.
Johan says in between songs that this is the first time in seven years that Amon Amarth are playing on Danish ground, so it is no wonder the crowd is ecstatic.
The show marches on with hit after hit, and the whole thing is perfectly rounded up with a bombastic sing-a-long to The Pursuit Of Vikings.

If negative things have to be said I suppose my criticism will go to the fact that they, in my opinion, have far to short a playtime. Also, because of Dimmu Borgir's massive scene decorations, the band seems to be pressed for space, almost standing on the very edge of the stage. None of these things are enough to dampen the great show though, and I am very happy that I'm seeing them again the next day.
