Metalforce
Magic Circle - 2008

"The era of Majesty is over. These men are known as Metalforce, and we play true fucking heavy metal!"
- Tarek 'MS' Maghary (vocals/keyboard)
So, this was what used to be known as Majesty? I didn't know Majesty, had never heard them, so I went to this show with no expectations and an open mind. Well, almost anyway. I'm sorry, but I simply can't take the new name seriously. I was just waiting the whole show for them to tell us that it was all a big joke, but they never did.
Instead, Tarek 'MS' Maghary (vocals/keyboard) tried his best to imprint this new name in the minds of everyone gathered before him by starting up a "Hail Metalforce" chant at several times.
Apart from this, he made a few brave attempts at getting the rather calm, semi-large crowd going, but sadly failed both to get a reaction from them and to inspire his band-mates to look a bit more alive as well. All in all, this seemed a bit over-hyped if you ask me, but then again, it was all a bit too much 'hero metal' over the whole thing for me to feel completely comfortable. It was a bit like seeing Manowar but without the great stage-presence and the grand selection of songs to choose from that they have.
Since Metalforce had only officially existed for about 24 hours, I do believe that all songs they played were Majesty 'covers', which also meant that even though this was a completely new band, the fan part of the audience was still able to sing along to all the songs. This is, of course, a genre that is very well suited, possibly the best suited one in metal, to have these great sing-a-long choruses. A good example of this came with the "bring metal to the stadiums" from Into The Stadiums, an anthem for, well, the text is self-evident is it not?
Setlist (incomplete):
Reign Of Glory (Majesty cover)
Sword And Sorcery (Majesty cover)
Hellforces (Majesty cover)
Freedom Heart (Majesty cover)
Heavy Metal Battlecry (Majesty cover)
Into The Stadiums (Majesty cover)
