Carcass

Metaldays - 2015

Late at night, on the third day of Metaldays, we were in for some serious speed and viciousness. Carcass had arrived from England, and was ready to use all of its surgical skills to rip the festival a new one.

“Hey, good evening to the audience formerly known as Metalcamp. I guess you’re called Metaldays now. Thanks for staying up!”
- Jeff Walker (vocals/bass)

Even though the band didn’t take the stage until the clock was almost 1 a.m., the band members didn’t display anything even near fatigue. In fact, they were showing an amount of energy that told that they were at the top of their game! They didn’t say much, sure, but the performance spoke for itself, as they blasted song after song at us, all the while being very much alive on stage.
This was certainly a good thing too. You see, even though Carcass had attracted a very large crowd, it wasn’t as lively as I would have expected. Sure, it was late, and I for one was very tired as well, but fans of this sort of thing usually doesn’t take a negative impact from night time. If it was early in the morning it would be a different thing, but it clearly wasn’t.
Either way, the band did all they could, and they did it well. In fact, in my opinion, they just kept getting better for each consecutive song, and it seemed like it was paying off. Little by little, the Metaldays crowd loosened up to the dry, British charm that they were served, and after a while a moshpit opened up. Nothing grand, but it was there, as a rambunctious testimony to the power of a show well done. Hell, we even saw a few crowd surfers sail by, but if you’ve kept up with our other reviews from this festival, that’s one fact that can hardly surprise you by now.

“I smell cowbell!”
- Walker (vocals/bass)

So, in my humble opinion, Carcass managed quite perfectly in their endeavour to rip this festival a new one. The shortness of the review, and the lack of detail in it, should not make you think otherwise. Those two are only a testimony to how tired this reviewer was at the time it took place.
