Metalcamp More great bands
In five years of its existence Metalcamp hosted many metal icons, over 220 bands, but there was only one, who discussed the feeling in his thumb when swimming in the cold Soca River with the large Metalcamp crowd at Metalcamp’s Main Stage. Of course we speak about the metal Bon Jovi himself, the indisputable king of stage comedy, the musical genius we all adore and love - Opeth’s mastermind Mr. Mikael Åkerfeldt.
Opeth is one of those bands that always keep you on guard. They manage to surprise us with each new album and we are never really sure what to expect. Their sincere devotion for their music is obvious. Moreover, their love for doing experiments with different musical styles is truly inspiring. If you are not head over heels in love with this band, you have to respect them for being so dedicated to their work. Opeth’s performance at Metalcamp 2006 was breathtaking - all who witnessed the symbiosis of their music and the nature surrounding them, must admit this is how the ‘perfect world’ would look and sound like. Their ninth studio album Watershed will be released in beginning of June, which means Metalcamp is the perfect chance for you to catch and experience this unearthly deliverance.
Another representative of progressive force from Sweden, Evergrey, have confirmed their appearance at this year’s Metalcamp festival. This time their performance will be focused on presenting their new album Monday Morning Apocalypse, although they will not be performing on Monday morning, fear not. Despite the fact the band is from Goethenburg, Evergrey don’t sound like typical Goethenburg-style band. Since their first album they have managed to create something unique and fresh. They are most known for their progressive dark musical compositions and as very talented musicians. We are happy that we host this great Inside/Out artist to satisfy all progressive freaks. Their spectacular act at Metalcamp festival will for sure be a night to remember!
Old-school UK thrashers Onslaught are confirmed for Metalcamp 2008. If you think you are thrasher and you don’t own The Force and Power from Hell in your CD collection, you are a fake! Onslaught is a band that heavily influenced European 80-es thrash scene. Last year they released a new album Killing Peace after more than 15 years and proved they are still the ultimate British thrash masters. Unleash your power from hell at Metalcamp 2008.
