Wacken Open Air 2013 – harder, faster, hotter!
One of the hottest Wacken Open Airs of all times ended on the weekend. Next to temperatures of over 30 degrees also the headliners of the festival like Rammstein with their great fire show fired up the 75.000 Metalheads.
The 24th edition of the Wacken Open Air is now part of the festival history. Besides originals like Alice Cooper, Deep Purple and Motörhead, especially Rammstein fascinated the crowd with their spectacular performance. But also the weather had some surprises in store: Next to temperatures over 30 degrees, short and heavy showers brought back puddles of mud.
The organizer Thomas Jensen and Holger Hübner draw a positive conclusion: “We already had a really good construction phase. Maybe this was a good omen since the festival days were amazing. For us it is the most important thing that the community enjoys the festival and celebrates peacefully. And from all that we heard that was the case.”
For the Wacken Open Air in 2014, the organizer already announced some bands. Amon Amarth, Apocalyptica mit Orchester, Arch Enemy, Avantasia, Behemoth, Children of Botom, Emperor, Iced Earth, King Diamond, Kreator, Prong and Schandmaul will be playing at the 25th anniversary of the W:O:A. Further band announcements will be made at the W:O:A-Kick-Off Party at the Hamburg Metal Dayz at the 28th of September in Hamburg.
The ticket sale for the 25th Wacken Open Air began on the 5th of August. Until the late afternoon round about 40.000 tickets were sold. More information about the already confirmed bands and about the ticket sale are available at www.wacken.com.
