Hate Eternal

Brutal Assault - 2009

Under the burning sun the Florida based boys of Hate Eternal were ready to deliver some spine-crushing death metal punishment over Brutal Assault.

Sadly, this was done without so much as an ounce of performance quality by Erik Rutan (vocals/guitars/founding member) and is co-players, and it was clearly reflected in the otherwise reasonably large audience they had pulled out of the wood-work.
Most of the people gathered took the scenes in rather calmly, with the exception of a small group of headbangers in the front, and the only way I could tell they were actually awake was that they still let the occasional holler out between songs.
Not even this made the band reach out and try to establish any form of connection with their onlookers, and as soon as the last note rang out they were off the stage without so much as a word, and were just as quickly forgotten.

Now, this was a concert I only went to because Lunah (Lauridsen, our photographer) convinced me to do so, which basically meant I didn’t really expect that much of it and therefore couldn’t say that I was disappointed.
However, Lunah had been looking forward to the show and likes the band, and as even she felt afterwards that this had been a waste of time, well, this should tell you something about the qualities (or lack thereof) of this show…
