Dødning

Stengade 30, Copenhagen - 2008

Ending this night at Stengade 30, and also headlining the Death Rattle Boogie tour were the Danish band Dødning, with their mix of metal and groovy rock rhythms. Musically they were very close to the first band of the evening, Greyline, and both were very far from the deathly growls of Illdisposed. Something they had done to make it a bit more special was to use two lead singers, Aske Kristiansen on screams and Mikkel Larsen doing the clean parts. This setup reminded me a bit about Raging Speedhorn, although musically I don't think they have much in common.

As I've written earlier, Illdisposed had the largest crowd of the evening, and when it was time for Dødning to play, the place was down to about half full again. Although giving a very energy filled show, the crowd was mostly hanging back and taking it easy at this point, with a few exceptions in the frontline, which among others included the members of Greyline supporting their tour mates. This is probably the risk you run, using a more established act as a support. Then again, it didn't seem to bother the guys in Dødning too much, as they still delivered a very capable show.
