Wind Rose

KB Hallen, Copenhagen - 2026

On their Wake Up The Wicked tour, Powerwolf had brought not one, but two highly popular colleagues in the power metal genre as support. The first of these on stage was Wind Rose from Italy.

“Welcome to the very first show on the second leg of our tour with Hammerfall and Powerwolf!”
- Francesco Cavalieri (vocals)

Wind Rose was definitely getting well acquainted with Denmark. In less than a year’s time, this was their third visit! A festival headlining spot at Epic Fest, their own headlining tour at Amager Bio, and now a support role for Powerwolf. Not a bad run, and if you think there’s a decline in the fact that they’ve gone from two headliner spots to a support spot, think again - not only is Powerwolf a major player in the genre, but KB Hallen is also a huge venue, probably the biggest one Wind Rose has played here so far. And the fans showed up for it, don’t doubt that for a second!
Playing so many times in short progression, and without releasing new material in the meantime, you’d have to forgive them for sticking to a now fairly well known setlist. Yup, Trollslayer was still the newest album out, and it was from this the most material was to be dug up.

Thus, the show opened with Of Ice And Blood playing through the speakers, as smoke filled the room and the players rambled onto the stage, getting ready to dive straight into Dance Of The Axes.
In the audience, inflatable pick axes were raised around the room - the fans came prepared (and if they hadn’t, inflatable pick axes were part of Wind Rose’s merch package) to dig the show.
On a positive note, I have to give the band that they so obviously enjoy playing, and they’re not trying to hide it by looking cool and metal (whatever that means). No, they were dancing, smiling, and Claudio Falconcini tried to show off his mighty biceps more than once. They didn’t have too much time on stage, but they used it wisely in their mix of music and having Cavalieri fire up the fans.
And the fans were fired up, singing along, dancing, and in general having a great old time, especially so when the band played Diggy Diggy Hole.

And see, as I mentioned last time as well, this is where it falls apart for me. Does it not say something about a band that’s been around for nigh on 20 years, having six full length albums under their belt, and yet when it comes to fan favourites, and band favourites as well if you look at what’s being pushed through their merchandise (talking t-shirts and such here), they’re known for a joke cover song? I mean, I don’t have all the numbers of course, but just boot up Spotify for a sec., and you’ll see that Diggy Diggy Hole has almost five (5!) times as many plays as their most popular original track!
I find that mind boggling, but in the end, it does not take away from the fact that they delivered a lively show at KB Hallen this evening, and they know how to work a crowd.
