Vulvatorious
Copenhell - 2025

Vulvatorious caught a lucky break indeed when Myles Kennedy’s tour bus caught fire somewhere too far away from the festival for him and his band to make it in time for their early Wednesday spot.
Vulvatorious, who were booked to play the mobile stage later in the day, got to fill the spot on the Hades stage - quite a step up, one might say!
“Copenhell, are you there?! How about you on the hill?! I see you, and I’m keeping an eye on you!”
- Ditte Krøyer (vocals)
Despite their short lifespan, Vulvatorious seems to be somewhat of a Copenhell darling. Apparently they played a highly successful show on the Pandæmonium stage last year, and participated in this year’s When Copenhell Freezes Over in February. And then there were the two mobile stage shows this year which suddenly got extended with a show on the second largest stage of the festival. Clearly, the band was going to make the most out of the opportunity.
Well, to be quite honest, Ditte Krøyer had decided to make the most of it. The rest of the band, including Ditte’s brother Rasmus Krøyer who was helping out on guitar for the live show (as far as I can tell, although I’m not familiar enough with them to figure out what exactly he was musically needed for), was apparently fine with playing the shoegazer card; not much movement, mostly looking at their instruments, seeking no audience participation whatsoever. The entire performance part of the performance was left to Ditte Krøyer. Luckily, she was deeply engaged and engaging, energetic on the stage and not afraid to get off it to get closer to the fans, as she did in FUCK YOU INCEL where she went into the security pit and stood on the fence singing.
“Cheers goddamnit! I wanna see you go amok!”
- Ditte Krøyer (vocals)
Even though it was early in the festival day, and we weren’t exactly squished together, there were still quite a lot of people in front of the stage to watch the band, and it was clear to see that the people who had come out had done so very intentionally to see Vulvatorious specifically. It wasn’t just people coming by to see what was up or people who had missed the line-up change, these were definitely Vulvatorious fans. From the start, there was a good mosh going in the middle, and while the rest of the crowd was physically calmer than that, they were still vocally supportive of the band, cheering them along loudly, and it didn’t take long before there were some crowdsurfers as well. For SÅ DØ!, Ditte Krøyer even got a good wall of death going.
For a band that walked in on a late cancellation (even though, as mentioned, they were there already), Vulvatorious did a good job of it. It was a large step up in stage size for the band, even from their previous performance on Pandæmonium, and since it’s predominantly Ditte Krøyer that does any performance, it might have been too big for them right now. In the near future, I’m sure they will be a better fit, as this is a band that’s growing fast, but I feel they need a bit more to fill out the stage with. There was a bit of a pyro show going on, but it was hard to tell if it was made for Vulvatorious or a leftover from Myles Kennedy, because it didn’t feel especially integrated with the show and music.
It’s not directly for me, but it was a good way to open the festival, and it felt far more relevant to have Vulvatorious open the stage than Myles Kennedy. A musical kick in the nuts, and we were off!
