Vomitory
Amager Bio, Copenhagen - 2026

Sweden and Norway had joined forces to conquer Europe with the Mass Hallucination tour, and in Denmark, the second stop of the tour, old school death metal outfit Vomitory was first on stage.
“How about some Swedish death on this Easter Friday?”
- Erik Rundqvist (vocals/bass)
Music aside, Vomitory didn’t make much noise opening Amager Bio this evening. The four musicians walked to their individual spots and began playing. Addressing the audience didn’t happen until after song three or four, and even then it was with just about the least amount of enthusiasm one could possibly muster. The only one in the band seeming even remotely interested in making a connection was drummer Tobias Gustafsson who, when the crowd called out “Sweden”, he smilingly retorted “Denmark!”.
So talking wasn’t their game, and from the looks of it, neither was performing, as they basically stood nailed to the ground for their entire 30 minutes, with a bit of occasional lazy neck wagging.
But how about the music then? First of all, the sound wasn’t optimal and came across rather muddy, but that may not have anything to do with the band, but rather a suboptimal soundcheck - what do I know? Secondly though, this was highly traditional old school death metal, no frills, nothing to make it stand out or feel personal in any way, not from what I could pick up here anyway. The third song, For Gore And Country, did stick out to me, as it had a bit of a nice, groovy riff, but other than that, it all pretty much blended into one. Rundqvist did say that they were going to turn down the tempo a bit with Wrath Unbound, but hearing the song, I’m not sure if it was said in earnest or as a joke.
Impressively, there was a respectable crowd already. I mean, it was far from full, but for being the first act of four this evening, I certainly hadn’t expected to see so many here already, and not only that, but the crowd grew steadily as soon as the show began.
Except for a bit of roars between songs however, it was clear that Vomitory wasn’t making much more headway with everyone else than they were doing with me. A bit of nodding here and there, but other than that, the crowd stood as perfectly still as the musicians did.
As you can imagine, no signs of life were resurrected at this point, and we could only hope that the next band would fare better.
Setlist:
Revelation Nausea
Terrorize Brutalize Sodomize
For Gore And Country
All Heads Are Gonna Roll
Wrath Unbound
Regorge In The Morgue
Chaos Fury
Porrfavor (Compagneros) (Eddie Meduza song)
