Týr
The Rock, Copenhagen - 2008

The main act of the night, and the main reason I wanted to go to the show was definitely Týr. Before them three other good acts had played (Gwydion, Alestorm and Hollenthon) and later we would be treated to an after-party held by Svartsot, so the evening couldn't get much better.
Týr played this Ragnarök Aaskereia festival tour put together by Napalm Records in support of their latest release, Land, and their even more recent re-release of their first album, How Far To Asgaard.
I had waited a long time to see Týr again. Not counting the time in January in Odense, where no press was allowed, we have to go all the way back to last year's Wacken Open Air, and remembering the crowd there I can't say I really saw them at that time either. So it was with high expectations I gladly awaited their arrival on the stage, and when they came they most certainly did not disappoint. Not in any way.
They were all as lively and enthusiastic as ever, and it was very contagious. Again, the entire crowd was in on the action and the whole floor was going in waves as these Faroese Vikings played one hit after the other.
This being the first show on the tour, and Týr being more or less on their home-turf, you could really tell that they were going all out to entertain tonight. As with the other bands, both the lights and sound were also working in their favour, so I don't have any complaints to come up with.
Except for one. The length of playing time. The duration of their set, about 45 minutes, was much too short a time to fully get to appreciate the concert, and it also meant that we didn't get to hear very much from the new album and some of the old classics had to be cut as well. Then again, the set that they had put together worked like a charm, and there wasn't a dull moment.
When it was all over, I believe there wasn't a single face in the room without a big old smile on its lips.
Setlist:
Grandkvædi Tróndar
Sinklars Visa
Dreams
Gátu Ríma
Hail To The Hammer
Wings Of Time
The Wild Rover
Ramund Hin Unge
