Yes, Thrashfest 2010 had hit Copenhagen, and first out this night was the new rising star on the thrash night-sky, Suicidal Angles from Greece. After them Death Angel, Exodus and Kreator would follow, all bands that have clearly influenced these young men, but for now, the stage was clearly theirs.

”Thank you for supporting thrash fucking metal!”
- Nick Melissourgos (vocals/guitar)<

Even though it was now almost a year after the first time I heard this band (also in Copenhagen), I have still not spent too much time going through their discography, hence I was not completely sure what they were playing in the beginning, but that didn’t stop me from appreciating the clearly old-school Slayer riffing of Bleeding Holocaust.
After this, Melissourgos demanded that we all screamed along for the title track of their latest album, Dead Again, thus trying to involve people even further in the show.
Sadly, the hall was still far from full, and those who had come didn’t show much excitement over what Suicidal Angels was bringing to the table. Sure enough, they aren’t from the same generation as the other bands of the evening, far from it, but as far as I was concerned, this Suicidal Angels show showed far more potential than their last bid. Ok, so they weren’t really doing anything except for playing their songs, but there was still a nice atmosphere to it, and the ultra fast music had one heck of an energy to it!
Maybe this was what made Melissourgos’s second attempt at making us shout along a more successful one than the first, and by the time they reached their finale with the song Apokathilosis, they had even managed to get a small circle pit going. Not a bad way of warming up for the others, I must say.

There is still a long way to go for this band, but they have all the time in the world to get there, and I’m positive that they had at least a few new fans after tonight. They at least managed to play a far more gripping gig than the veterans of Exodus!
