Sonata Arctica
Mejeriet, Lund - 2007

Finishing this week off are Finnish Sonata Arctica.
It's been a while since last I saw them, and they most certainly have grown in popularity since then.
They start the show of with a nice piano sounding intro, and already at this point the crowd is almost boiling. The band themselves also seem to be in a very good mood tonight, and why wouldn't they be? The place is packed!
There is a great vibe, and the connection between band and audience is perfect. Tony Kakko is a great frontman, who really knows how to entertain. There is a lot of dancing, running around, and general goofing of going on.
The crowd is really wild tonight as well, shouting like you'd think you were at a Take That concert, getting their lighters out for Tallulah, and I've never seen so many mobile-phones filming all at once as I did for Fullmoon.
Another good thing worth mentioning is the vocal warm-up part. You know, the one where the singer tries to get the audience into following him with a lot of Oh's and Ah's. It's practically the same thing every time, no matter which band you see. Until now. Tony has managed to turn the trend around, and has invented a new and fun game. He divides the crowd into three parts, and makes one part the cymbal, one the snare, and the last is turned into the bass drum. Then he sits on the stage playing, using the audience as his own private drum-kit. We all end up doing We Will Rock You, and have a great time.
Finally, ending the show is the classical vodka song, which makes for a great finale this evening.
A note about the sound; I started of standing close to the stage, out to one side. Here, the sound was really bad, with almost no sound coming from the guitar. Although, as I went further back later on, I found the sound to improve the further away I got from the stage. So, it's not always a good thing to be in the front line. Even though it has it's perks as well.
