So, this was the second time I was going to see Tampa Bay death metallers Obituary this year. Last time, at Graspop, I had not been very impressed by the bands lack of show, so naturally I feared the same thing would be the case here at Wacken. Luckily, the band managed to prove me wrong, as they seemed much more alive than they had done at the last show.
Especially lead singer and frontman John Tardy took me by surprise as he smiled and clapped his hands to the audience, and just in general seemed to have a very good time there at the Party Stage. Also his brother behind the drumkit, Donald, who had given us a blazing drumsolo last time around seemed to be in a formidable mood.

The crowd, which was very big considering the size of the stage, was also feeling great at this concert. Arms were raised with devil horns throughout, and there was even some crowd surfing going on. And for the ending song, Slowly We Rot, everyone went amok, even more arms were raised and almost everyone went into sing-along mode.

As had been the case at the Graspop concert, Obituary was blessed by a very good sound for the show, even though it overall seemed a bit low.
The only down-side was the fact that there still lacked some crowd contact in between songs, which could have been fixed by some general chit-chat, or at least a short comment now and then. During the songs, however, the band was very entertaining; for example, when John helped his brother out with playing the drums at one point.
This show was a great improvement from last time, and if it keeps on in this direction the sky is the limit.
