Metalcamp - 2010

The first day of Metalcamp had actually been the big death-day, but even as we reached the fourth day there was place for an uncompromising killing-spree, graciously delivered by Obituary.

The unrelenting sun was still burning the bodies of the loosely packed crowd to crisps, but that didn’t stop the hardcore group of fans in the front from creating a neck-breaking headbang-o-rama, whilst not busying themselves in a mosh or circle-pit.
The band however didn’t seem to take too kindly to the heat; John Tardy seemed especially bothered by it, his face all red and sweaty (who can blame him with that giant mane he carries with him?), but all of the members were moving somewhat slower and more strained than usual. The only one keeping his cool was drummer Donald Tardy, who for some reason always manage to look like he’s having a great time, no matter what the circumstances may be.
The setlist felt standard, but was well appreciated by the fans. I for one could have wished for a bit more variety though.

All in all, this did not really catch me like it has done in past experiences, and the memory of the show didn’t last longer than the icy-cold beer I went to quench my thirst with afterwards…
