Megadeth

In my book, seeing Megadeth can be something of a gamble. Example; first time I saw them, at Sweden Rock Festival 2005, I got so bored by their show I almost fell asleep in the grass, but later that same year, at the Graspop Metal Meeting, I was completely amazed and couldn't tear myself away, even though I really wanted to see the band playing on the other stage.
So, it was because of this, that, after the first couple of tracks, I was thinking about those people leaving after hearing Volbeat, and how maybe I should have joined them. Two out of three isn't a bad deal, after all.
The sound was horrible, Dave Mustaine was constantly looking at his own toes, and not even the inclusion of such classics as Take No Prisoners and Skin O' My Teeth seemed to be able to save this show from utter disaster.
Then, as time went by, something funny happened.
Dave lifted his head, started to speak to the audience, even make some jokes, and then, about half way into the set the show had actually turned rather good. And from there on, there was only one way to go, and that was up. When the show was over and the lights came back on, I was completely exhausted from headbanging, waving my devil horns in the air, and from simply having had the time of my life.
We were treated to a well made selection of songs, from newer ones such as Never Walk Alone and Washington Is Next! (which we were told has just won a 'Song of the Year' contest in Japan), through Trust and Á Tout Le Monde, all the way back to the classics, such as Ashes In Your Mouth, Symphony Of Destruction, Hangar 18, In My Darkest Hour, Peace Sells, and a personal favourite of mine, Tornado Of Souls, and finally they wrapped the whole thing up with Holy Wars... The Punishment Due.
So, as the night went on, and Mustaine's mood went up, so did the quality of the show, and I ended up with three fantastic shows on my hands.
