Headlining The Black Crusade was the ever so amazing Machine Head, and to be perfectly honest, this was the one reason I really wanted to see this show.
Having had a bit of a downslope in recent years, they have really pulled themselves together for the last couple of albums, in my opinion, and both the old material and the newer songs work really well live.
Sadly, their guitarist Phil Demmel was unable to play with the band, because his father had recently passed away, and the band gave a most moving performance of Descend The Shades Of Night in honour of his memory.
To solve the present problem of a lacking second guitar, they borrowed people from the previous bands, who came in and made guest appearances in different songs. This worked out nice, and the different people all contributed to the show with some of their own strengths and energy.
This was also something the whole audience seemed to enjoy, and even the people all the way in the back and to the sides in the seated areas were standing and shouting along to all their favourite tracks.
The whole thing was finished in a blast with a gigantic circle pit to the wonderful tunes of Davidian, which marked the end of The Black Crusade, and a night filled with good music.
