Lordi

Wacken - 2008

Ending the festival in the same fashion as I started it, I had gotten a few more beers than possibly I should have, just like I had done to the Iron Maiden show.
Anyway, since metal-monsters Lordi from Finland are all about rock'n'roll and party, I'm not certain that this was actually such a bad thing. At least, I had a great time, and that's the most important isn't it?

With their outrageous costumes and big stage-production with loads of pyro and other stuff, Lordi made for the ultimate final act of the 2008 edition of the Wacken Open Air festival. Almost everyone was gathered to watch the ghoulish show, and on top of everything else the band had been blessed with one of the best sounds heard from the True Metal Stage throughout the whole festival.
To further add to the show the Finns were joined by German metal legend Udo Dirkschneider on guest vocals for They Only Come Out At Night, a song which he also has lent his vocals to on album. This fell in good favor with especially the German part of the crowd. Not that I think that anyone else opposed the idea either.
Another special treat was the song Beast Loose In Paradise which has not been released on any album, but is taken from the Lordi feature film Dark Floors.

All in all, it was a blast to watch Lordi, and as I've already written, they made for a perfect finale for the entire festival trip.
