Iced Earth

Metalcamp - 2008

One hell of a lot of people had come to see Iced Earth re-united with their original singer, Matt Barlow, who has been out of the band for a couple of years, concentrating on his law studies I think I read somewhere.
However, this was something that did not seem to affect his performance, to me it was impossible to see or hear that he ever quit singing.
The rest of the band was also in a good mood for playing, and gave a lively performance, with a lot of songs from all across their career. I did miss songs from the Burnt Offerings album though, but this is only a personal preference of mine.

The start of the set was played pretty fast, directly going from song to song without any breaks in between, which made it kind of hard to follow for one such as me who does not have all their albums or listen to them on a regular basis. Still, it was a good show, and I think Matt did a good job with the Tim 'Ripper' Owens material as well, although I do believe that if he could have turned them even more into his own vocal style, the songs would have sounded even better.
I wish I had paid more attention to the concert at Graspop, but there you are. Hopefully, I'll remember this till next time.
