Helloween
Mejeriet, Lund - 2007

I must admit, my evening was made already after that great Gamma Ray show, so anything Helloween would have to give was purely a bonus. As it turned out, Helloween wasn't going to settle for this, but was in fact going to give Gamma Ray a fight for the throne! Great!
Simply starting the show off with Halloween told me that this would most likely be the best Helloween show I had ever witnessed.
The contact with the audience couldn't have been better, the whole band was really in a good mood, and the show seemed really thought through. I am most happy to announce that Andi Deris even skipped his embarrassing speech about his penis, a thing which he has "brought up" every single time I have seen them in the past.
The audience was really getting into it as well, singing the "Happy Happy Helloween" anthem practically every time the band went silent. Seeing how the place was sold out, this gave quite an impression even to the band, which at one point had to ask the crowd to settle down a bit so they could get on with the show. The amps couldn't be heard over noise!
Being served up classic after classic song suited this reviewer perfectly as well, and it was nice to see how they managed to get a few more songs into the set by making a medley out of Where The Rain Grows, Perfect Gentleman, Keeper Of The Seven Keys and more. I also remember hearing If I Could Fly somewhere, and that song wasn't even on the setlist.
The only downside in the set was the drum solo, which was too long and pulled the tempo of the rest of the show down. Nice to see the fireworks at the end though.
The legend of this show was definitely set in stone when all the guys from Gamma Ray came out on stage and both bands played together for the last two songs.
Without a doubt the best I have ever seen these guys perform, and they will have a hard time beating this the next time.
Setlist:
Halloween
Sole Survivor
March Of Time
As Long As I Fall
A Tale That Wasn't Right
Solo
The King For A 1000 Years
Eagle Fly Free
The Hells Of The 7 Bells
If I Could Fly
Dr. Stein
Medley
Future World
I Want Out
