Gorefest
Voxhall, Århus - 2008

Gorefest was at this show supported by two bands, Die and Crucifix. We missed both, and were even afraid of missing out on Gorefest due to such a stupid thing as a traffic jam. There was some kind of truck accident outside of Shitville (yes, it's actually called that, I just translated it from the Danish name)...
Finally arriving at Voxhall, expectations were high, since I had been listening to basically nothing but Gorefest for a whole week on my mp3 player. There were also quite a few others at the show, though I can't comment on how it was compared to other concerts since it's not very often we come to Voxhall.
The show started with an ominous rumbling sound and a few flashing lights, whereupon the band quickly upped the tempo, starting the show with For The Masses. The band was really going all out, giving us a superb show, and the people in the audience were also doing their bit. More or less. There was actually quite a divide about three or four rows back, with the front really going at it and the back, well, just hanging back basically.
The favourites in the set seemed to be Erase, which had everyone shouting and flailing their arms about, and Reality - When You Die, which also got a bit of a moshpit going.
A very delightful thing to see was the group dynamics, which was excellent. You could see that Gorefest had a great time playing; Frank Harthoorn and Boudewijn Bonebakker even did a little dance to Reality. It was short, but it was there. Jan-Chris De Koeijer also took the time between songs to say the bands thanks to Tue Madsen, who has helped the band out with both of their latest albums. An obvious choice for a guest appearance, in my opinion, would have been Jacob Bredahl (Last Mile, ex-Hatesphere) who put in extra vocals on the Rise To Ruin album, since he is also from this part of the country. Live, these parts were handled by Frank and Boudewijn though; possibly Jacob had other plans.
Setlist:
For The Masses
Mental Misery
Get - A - Life
Revolt
Rise To Ruin
You Could Make Me Kill
State Of Mind
Babylon's Whores
Erase
The War On Stupidity
Reality - When You Die
Speak When Spoken To
The Glorious Dead
