A bit more people had come in since Konkhra's show, and the mood had likewise gotten a bit higher. A fun thing to notice was how many Swedes that were attending tonight's show. Of course, according to Forbidden's shirt, this was the first gig of the tour, and I didn't see any Swedish dates written on it. Now there's a first; a metal band visiting Denmark, but skipping Sweden!
Something that hit me during the show was how extremely vital the old 80:ies thrash bands are. A short while ago Death Angel visited the The Rock, and now it was Forbidden's turn. Both are bands I had not heard before, and both bands impressed me with the sheer energy and vitality of their concerts.
And I wasn't the only one impressed, almost all the floor turned into a moshpit right from the get go, and it didn't let up until the show was over; actually I think grew larger the longer the show progressed. Incredible! Then of course there were all the stage divers, another feat I don't believe I have witnessed at The Rock before, but the compelling force of Forbidden got us all to act like crazy. This was one of those shows where all your inhibitions are thrown to the wolves, and you can't help but to shout at the top of your lungs, throw your clenched fist in the air, or get down on your knees and perform a blazing air guitar solo. It felt great to have this freedom to act the way you wanted, and that was exactly what people did.
The band seemed to have a great time as well, and there was at least as much energy pouring out from the stage, as there was pulsating on the floor.
Still, neither lights nor sound was of the best quality, but somehow it didn't seem to matter for Forbidden, as it had done for Konkhra before them. They were still willing and able to sonically kick our asses twenty something years back in time, to where life was simple, and metal was rude, noisy, and didn't care what others thought about it.
Setlist:
March Into Fire
Forbidden Evil
Off The Edge
Feel No Pain
One Foot In Hell
Through Eyes Of Glass
Twisted Into Form
Follow Me
Infinite
