Entombed

KB, Malmö - 2009

On the last day of our three day Entombed / Amon Amarth marathon it was KB in Malmö which invited us into their warm hall from the cold outside.

Already in time for Entombed’s gig the place was nearly packed, and it was easy to see that this was for once an audience who appreciated what they were laying eyes and ears to.
Just as in Copenhagen, Entombed were really rocking the place, but in contradiction to said show, here the audience were with them all the way, and it was a delight to see. It was easy to see how this affected the band as well, as they let all hell loose on stage.

Entombed hammered through the same set they used the other days, but with the liveliness from the audiences’ side, and the extreme volume with which the music was pumped out to us, it was still like seeing something completely different, and I must say that the atmosphere absolutely peaked at this show.
Even L.G. Petrov took the time to do some crowd pleasing in between songs; not much, but what he did worked well. Like the little joke just before the encore (not that they ever left the stage, but still); “One more?” This was greeted by a very loud “Yeah!” and still Petrov quickly added; “I don’t think Olle (note: Olle Dahlstedt, the drummer) back here heard you, I said one more?!”. This time the response was near deafening, which seemed to please the happy man. Afterwards I heard someone in the back shout Death In Fire, but I think we all just choose to forget that, and when Night Of The Vampire rolled its heavy blanket of a monster song over us, all arms were automatically raised to the air, and shouts of Hey were heard throughout the hall.
After all the songs were done, Entombed stayed on the stage for a bow and a thank you, for the first time in these three days we had seen them; a true testimony of what an enthusiastic audience can bring out in a band.

I know one shouldn’t compare, but this was still definitely the best of the three Entombed concerts in my mind, and although it first hit me for real after the night was over, it was sad to know that it was now all over. All we can wait for is their next visit…
