Dizzy Mizz Lizzy

Copenhell - 2025

Three years after their Copenhell debut, Dizzy Mizz Lizzy returned to the scene of the crime, as it were.
This time however, they were the headliners, and they’d brought a secret weapon with them - a fan voted setlist!

“Copenhell, it’s wonderful to be back! Thank you for the invitation!”
- Tim Christensen (vocals/guitar)

As you may remember, Dizzy Mizz Lizzy’s last visit to Copenhell hadn’t exactly been seen as a triumph, so it was with some amount of trepidation that we stood before Helvíti, waiting for what had been hailed as the highlight of the day.
Before the crowd stood the most empty stage of the day, looming in the coming twilight. None of the impressive light rigs they’ve been known to use as of late had been brought along; all there was, was a simple backdrop.
In came the band however, and from the first song, the heavy In The Blood, they showed that they weren’t about to be defined and dismissed by something as trivial as twinkling lights. Here music was king, and the trio was more than happy to announce its excellence in the court.
In fact, they did so with so much energy we were completely taken aback by what we saw!

First of all, all of the band members looked genuinely happy as they looked out over the crowd. Eye contact, communication, involvement - this was clearly meant to be as inclusive a show as it was to be entertaining.
Søren Friis is always fun to watch, and seems to be giving it his all every time he’s on stage, but I’m glad to say that also Martin Nielsen was unusually pumped for this performance, and he held a great connection with the audience throughout the show. Christensen is of course the frontman, and as such more eyes are on him, but he handled it with ease this evening. His solo stunt with only him on stage, singing Love Is A Loser’s Game with the crowd, went down exceptionally well, and everyone was on their toes to join in the chorus of voices.

“It’s so lovely to be back at Denmark’s best festival! We’ve been looking forward to it like little girls!”
- Christensen (vocals/guitar)

The party was a clear success, as we saw a slew of crowdsurfers, and what might have possibly been Dizzy Mizz Lizzy’s first ever large scale circle pit! There was of course a chorus of singers in the crowd for every song, but the super hit songs took it to an entirely new level.
Saying that it was a scaled back show from the band’s side also proved to be only moderately true, as little by little, they started rolling out a well-planned pyro show. When we reached Barbedwired Baby’s Dream, the average festival temperature was lifted by several degrees due to the large flames, and when Waterline rolled around as the last song before the encore section of the set, everything exploded and fireworks lit the sky above!

This was an absolute killer of a show, proving both that Dizzy Mizz Lizzy deserved and could easily handle the headlining spot of the festival, and it completely redeemed their past history here.
But what about the fan selected setlist? Well, as you would expect, all the live staples were there, yet even though the set generally leaned towards the heavier material of the band, there was still room for the band’s more heartfelt tracks as well, and a couple of surprises along the way. All in all, not overly surprising, but very, very good.
