Dimmu Borgir

Ok, so I have to say I find it a bit hard to take it seriously when a band of Dimmu Borgir's calibre use those small pieces of paper with built in wind and light to simulate fire on stage. Why not use the real thing?

The show begins with a thundering intro, completed with a big black sun on the projector-screen and two men in Satanic clergy outfits, walking unto the stage swinging incense jars.
After a while, the band enters to start the show of with Progenies Of The Great Apocalypse. Great choice, although now I don't know what to look forward to. This is the Dimmu Borgir song which sounds best in my ears...
The band has a new bass-player, and at this point I'm not sure what has happened to ICS Vortex. In a way they still use him though, in the sense that all his vocal parts are pre-recorded and performed as play back.

The visual concept with the projector showing album covers and other things works very nicely throughout the show. The only problem is in The Sacrilegious Scorn and Mourning Palace where they show the music videos on screen. The timing isn't perfect, so it feels a bit awkward, like watching an old badly translated Japanese film, with the mouth moving at one point in time, and the voice coming out at quite another.

Don't be mislead by this criticism, though. The band provides a good show, and the audience love every minute of it. Two thumbs up.
A second opinion, with which I agree wholeheartedly, is that it is an impressively long and varied setlist they've made for the evening.
