Children Of Bodom

With the place sold out, and a line outside which went all around the building (and believe you me, it's a large building) it was no wonder that the room felt a bit empty at the start of Children Of Bodom's show, warming up for Machine Head and later Slipknot. Or, actually no Machine Head. We had heard only a few hours before the show that they had cancelled due to Rob Flynn feeling ill.
Even though there weren't many people who had gotten in yet, they once that had managed to made a quite a racket, and were easily entertained when the Finns of Children Of Bodom went on stage. A likely explanation for this came from leadsinger Alexi 'Wildchild' Laiho;
"For 10 fucking years we've been touring around the planet but this is the first fucking time for Children Of Bodom to play in motherfucking Denmark, and we fucking love it!"
- Laiho (vocals/guitar)
And so did we; the great audience that was filling in more and more by the minute was obviously starved for their lightning fast, brutal metal.
We were served several of their greatest songs; Hate Me!, Blooddrunk, Angels Don't Kill, Silent Night, Bodom Night and Hate Crew Deathroll were just some of the highlights of this versatile set. Although, in my opinion they should definitely had gotten more time than they did to play in (about 45 minutes) seeing how Machine Head had cancelled and left a spot open.
As usual, they band was full of energy, even better than many of the big festival shows we've seen them play. This was definitely the right kind of venue for them, and even though there was no space for their usual big set up with a car and other things due to Slipknot's equipment, they stilled managed to rock the place. In response, the audience was wild, and jumped and banged along to every second of the concert.
As they finished, Jaska Raatikainen was generous enough to share a great deal of drumsticks with the fans, and then they were quickly of the stage.
