Cavalera Conspiracy
Graspop Metal Meeting - 2008
Text: Tobias Nilsson Photo: Lunah Lauridsen
It wasn't long since last we saw Cavalera Conspiracy, at that time playing in Pumpehuset, Copenhagen, so the set and the show was pretty much the same.
Cavalera Conspiracy were playing the Main stage, and there were an impressive amount of people who had met up to see the concert, and they went absolutely wild when the music started, for all the songs in general but especially for the old Sepultura tracks. Again the band chose to mix some cover tracks in with the actual Cavalera Conspiracy originals; apart from Sepultura, bands like Nailbomb and Motörhead were visited, and I even think I heard a Soulfly song in there somewhere, but I'm not 100% about it.
The band gave a good show, but again I think Johny Chow (bass) and Marc Rizzo (guitar) were the liveliest ones up on the stage. Ritchie (Max's stepson) was once more invited to sing Black Ark, which he did quite well, slightly reminding me of Burton C. Bell from Fear Factory somehow. This time around we also got to see a bit more of Igor, who seemed to be in quite a good mood for tonight's show. Igor was also offered a short break in the show when Max's son took over drums for Troops Of Doom. We also got to see Igor's offspring, but this was first after the show, where he, carried on his father's arm, got to help out with throwing drumsticks to the audience.
The ending of the show was again reserved for the hit track Roots Bloody Roots, which saw everyone in a good mood, and I do believe that at the end everyone felt that they had gotten hat they came for; a kick-ass concert.
