Arch Enemy
Metalcamp - 2008

Arch Enemy had the honour of being the last band to play on Metalcamp in 2008. This of course meant that there was a huge crowd gathered before the Mainstage, just waiting for them to come on.
And on they came, and with enough energy to wake the dead. Which probably was needed, when playing so late on the last day of the (to my knowledge) longest metal-festival in the world. They don't call it a holiday for nothing.
Even though the band worked their hardest to kick some tired, drunken metal ass, it didn't really do it for me. Admittedly, Arch Enemy has never been a big band in my home, and in addition to this their sound wasn't very well mixed, as I could only hear the one guitar. This took some time fixing; after a while we decided to step a bit back and see the rest of the show sitting on the hill to avoid the pressure that was building up front, and it wasn't till this time that we got to hear some of Chris Amott's guitar. Before this it had just been his brother Michael coming out of the speakers.
Here towards the end we were also given a dual guitar-solo started by Chris, and after a short while Michael joined in and they were hell-bent on showing us who the strongest guitar duo in the world are. It was fast and intricate, but as I said before, not something that caught my attention.
