With their three times at Metalcamp, the last two directly following each other, Amon Amarth is becoming more or less a house-band of the festival; something we here at Metalmoments fully endorse!

With the short preview in the The Pursuit Of Vikings stolen riff in the Sonic Syndicate concert, and after being dubbed Hooligans Of Asgaard by some German friends, we were definitely ready for the Viking onslaught.
Even though the day had been warm and sunny, when the long-ships sailed into Tolmin, they brought thunder and rain in their wake, a fitting entrance for the Norse gods.

The concert kicked off with spurts of fire and the now familiar opener Twilight Of The Thunder God, and the extremely large crowd was so enthralled, it was hard to understand that this was not the headliner of the day!
Johan Hegg asked;”Are you ready for metal?!”, and I’d say we were, all of us. After some well-placed words in Slovenian to please the natives, the show continued with Asator and several other goodies from this Nordic bag of treats. No big surprises, but who wants, or needs, it when we have achieved perfection already?

At the end of Guardians Of Asgaard someone turned the water of, and at the end of Victorious March Amon Amarth was kind enough to try and dry us up with further pyrotechnics in the form of sparklers flying from both the floor and the ceiling of the stage.
All in all, the show was just as professional as we have come to expect from this band, in every aspect.

The only thing I feel was a shame, was that they were only given an hour and fifteen minutes of stage-time; I’d say they have proven their worth for more a long time ago. Still, they managed their time wisely, which led us to get the absolute most out of it.
We thank Amon Amarth for this time, and hope to see them back again next year.
