Amon Amarth

Like the song Varyags Of Miklagaard says, it was now time for the warriors to return back home.
Their return to Swedish shores was greeted by loud cheers from all who visited KB this night, a cheer which began long before Amon Amarth entered the stage.

This shouting continued throughout the show at every chance they got, especially so between songs, but also in the middle of them.
Already in the opener Twilight Of The Thunder God the crowd completely took over the vocals in the chorus, and they continued doing so also in other songs like Runes To My Memory and The Pursuit Of Vikings. I can honestly say that this was the loudest audience of all the three days in which I had now seen Amon Amarth, and probably also the liveliest one; the hall of KB was almost exploding with the energy pumped out by people.

Up on the stage, the band themselves did nothing short of an amazing piece of work either; though nothing less was expected I might add.
The songs were delivered with a convincing amount of power, and all members of the Viking tribe seemed to be pumped for the show.
The only thing pulling this down from another complete success was the fact that L.G. Petrov once again was missing during Guardians Of Asgaard. Not that Johan Hegg had any problem at all pulling the song off solo, but after seeing the two together just the day before, my expectations were naturally unreasonably high.
As had been done at the other nights, Amon Amarth once again paid tribute to Mike Alexander and Evile by dedicating The Fate Of Norns to them. Evile was supposed to be the first support band for this tour, but sadly their bassist Alexander died while the tour was still young, and the rest of the band had to drop their place.

So, as our three-day Viking raid came to an end, I must say that I was, on a whole, extremely happy and satisfied with what I had lived to see and hear; the only thing tugging at my mind was how I was supposed to make it through the day after without seeing them in the evening (it is funny how quickly you can grow addicted to some things, isn’t it?).
This show had definitely been a worthy end, although if I’m forced to compare I would still say that it did not surpass the Copenhagen show. This had been a great show in all aspects, but one was pure magic.
No matter what, I would not have been without this for any cost.
