Crowdsurfers, ready on a count of three! Two!
Oh, ye be off already, be ye? Well, alright then…
Yep, Alestorm told us that they had broken the festival record for crowdsurfers the last time they were here. The year was 2018, before the world broke, and I fully believe them capable of breaking just such a record.
Well, their goal this year was to break it again, and given the fact that the crowdsurfers were already wildly active before the band had even entered the stage, gave them a good fighting chance to do so.
I swear, the expectations of partying with Alestorm have reached such a level, that I don’t think the band even have to do anything anymore. They enter, and the crowd takes care of the rest; hell, in this case they didn’t even need to enter, for the crowd to start a party!
That’s not to say the band didn’t do their job, because they delivered just like you’d expect from them. There were ducks, kilts, and lots of piracy. Playing and running around. Full speed ahead, Mr. Bowes!
Alestorm wasn’t alone in the ocean this day, it turned out. When they reached their well used cover of Hangover, they were joined on additional vocals by Phill ‘Beef Guy’ Philp and some other guy (sorry, didn’t catch a name) on acoustic guitar. This was quite a fun break from the drunken shenanigans the band dished up. Not that these weren’t drunken shenanigans, they were just drunken shenanigans with additional crew. Beef Guy returned in Tortuga, for additional rapping and playfulness. And drinking out of a shoe.
What can I say? I don’t think anyone doesn’t know what they get with Alestorm at this point, and if you don’t, well, I guess you’re not reading this anyway, are you?
Alestorm delivered an amazing party ground for the Copenhell visitors to go completely bananas, and the Copenhell visitors did just that.
Did they break the crowdsurfing record? I don’t know. With the way things were going, I wouldn’t be surprised if the guards just gave up counting at some point.
